abstract = "With the growth of cities and the sprawl of large urban centers,
green areas are tending to disappear from the cityscape. With the
intense process of leveling the city of Bel{\'e}m the city's
green areas are increasingly being restricted to smaller squares
and parks in urban precincts, this problem is reflected in the
district Tenon{\'e} locus of this research with intense
transformation of the vegetation in the built environment.
Accordingly took place this study in order to make the mapping of
land use and vegetation cover in the neighborhood Tenon{\'e} /
Bel{\'e}m State of Par{\'a}. Using a literature survey and
mapping, using satellite images of the Ikonos 2006 to produce the
maps of vegetation cover and land use maps at scale 1: 25,000, use
the map of neighborhoods in the city of Bel{\'e}m for the
preparation map the location of the study area on the scale of
1:20,000, research in the field to investigate the truth of the
data. Accordingly, the district offers the following classes:
residential condominiums (0.96%), housing (19.96%); spontaneous
occupations (3%), commercial areas (2.55%), bare soil (4.41 %),
vegetation (41.98%), water bodies (1.38%), paved and unpaved roads
(6.55%) and other uses (19.21%). The vegetation was found to be
above the recommended rate, but has been undergoing a process of
decline in recent years, featuring in the urgency of public
policies that prevent this reduction and favors the permanence of
urban green.",
